Reflect and Grow: February

Hello everyone, and Happy Friday! It’s crazy to think the last Friday of this month is already here,  but it is a short month. February felt different than January, but it was still a month of momentum nonetheless. I don’t have too many updates, so let’s get into it.

Reflecting on February

This month didn’t lend me too many in-person networking events, and the one I did attend didn’t exactly go as planned.

However, I tried something new,,  I leaned into virtual networking through Alignable, a platform I learned about toward the end of last year but hadn’t fully explored yet.

Earlier this month, I challenged myself to attend a virtual networking event with zero expectations. To my surprise, it turned out to be an amazing opportunity to connect with mostly women entrepreneurs.

To paint the picture: each person gets about seven minutes in seven to eight breakout rooms. We start with a small icebreaker before diving into what we do and how we serve. Each week, I’ve joined a different group and had the pleasure of meeting business owners from all around the country. It’s been refreshing, low-pressure, and surprisingly energizing.

On the flip side, I also tried a new networking group through Meetup. This one took place at the Rose Garden in Downtown Phoenix and was supposed to be casual networking over cocktails.

But when I arrived, the bar was nearly empty. I ordered a glass of Prosecco and waited patiently, hoping more people would trickle in. The reality? Only about five men showed up, and they quickly formed their own circle.

In that moment, I realized I had two choices: sit there feeling awkward… or pivot.

So I grabbed my iPad and planned my March content instead.

It definitely wasn’t how I intended to spend the evening, but I’ve always carried an eternal optimist mindset. I wasn’t going to let the night go to waste.

Growing into March

Next month is already the final month of Q1, and I can feel myself getting excited for spring and summer. I’ve been putting in a lot of work behind the scenes, and I can’t wait to see the return on the seeds I’ve been planting.

One of my biggest goals for March is to begin soft prospecting — really shooting my shot with collaboration opportunities. After spending the last two months building my network and finding my rhythm on social media (still learning TikTok, but we’re getting there), it feels like a natural next step.

This year is about doing the things that scare me. The things that stretch me.

March feels like the soft launch before going full throttle in April.

Conclusion

February felt different from January, quieter in some ways, but progress still happened. I’m continuously putting myself in rooms (virtual and physical) where I can meet other entrepreneurs and allow my personality to open doors.

As we close out Q1, I feel prepared.

As always, I appreciate you being here on this journey with me. I’ll catch up with you next month

xx Annie
