Happy Friday, friends! I can’t believe how quickly August flew by; it feels like I blinked and the month was gone. But what a month it has been. Let’s dive in.
Moments of Reflection
This month started off with such a major highlight: I attended the National Black Business Month Summit hosted by the Black Chamber of Arizona. It was my very first time going to a summit and a Black Chamber event, and wow, it was such a powerful experience. Picture a room full of hundreds of entrepreneurs from all over the state, dynamic speakers, and real conversations about the highs and lows of entrepreneurship. I left that event feeling motivated, excited, and reminded of why I chose this path in the first place.
Right after the summit, something really special happened—I had the opportunity to be featured in an entrepreneur spotlight interview with Shoutout Arizona (Read the article). This opportunity came through one of my closest friends, who recommended me to the editor, and honestly, that alone meant so much to me. Having people in your circle who believe in you and your work is a blessing I’ll never take for granted. This interview gave me space to share the deeper “why” behind my business journey, and I left the conversation feeling proud of how far I’ve come.
I also had the chance to tune in to the State48 Foundation’s Entrepreneur Speaker Series this month. Every Thursday, I would log into Zoom and listen to other entrepreneurs share their journeys. Even though it was virtual, the impact was real. Hearing their stories gave me perspective on where I am in my own journey and how much growth still lies ahead.
Opportunities for Growth
Even with all these exciting moments, I’ve also been reflecting on where I can grow. As you know, I’ve been in the middle of a client project, and one thing that has stood out is how much patience it takes to work directly with clients. I’m learning the delicate balance of checking in and following up without feeling like I’m rushing someone. It’s a skill, and I’m definitely still figuring it out.
Another big decision on the horizon: my website. I’ve been on Shopify for the past two years, but since I’m shifting my focus more toward client-based work, I’m wondering if it’s time to move to a different platform that fits this next phase better. I’ll share more about that in my next post, it’s something I want to explore more deeply.
Looking Ahead
August has been such a turning point for me—professionally and personally. In my last post, I mentioned that I lost my 9-5, and I’m happy to share that I was able to secure a new full-time role this month! It’s fully remote, which means I’ll need to adjust my daily rhythm, but I’m genuinely excited about this new chapter.
If August taught me anything, it’s that growth often comes in waves, some moments push you forward, some moments slow you down, but every single one of them is shaping the bigger picture.
Here’s to reflecting, growing, and welcoming everything September has in store.
xx,
Annie
